Zubak Grupa #WearRedForWomen 2024

Every year, twice as many women die from stroke as from breast cancer. The specific symptoms of stroke that are present in women are different from the usual ones. This is precisely why they are often not recognized as a symptom of a stroke, and treatment is often delayed.

The public health campaign #nosicrveno (eng. “Go Red for Women”) was launched by the American Cardiology Society in 2004 and soon became an international campaign dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and control of diseases of the heart, blood vessels and brain in women. Since 2019, the Croatian Neurological Society has been implementing the #NosiCrveno public health campaign, which is marked as “Red Dress Day”, and Zubak Grupa is a proud sponsor of this public health campaign since 2020.

If you feel unusual changes in your body and head, pay attention to:

  1.  Speech: – check if the person can pronounce words clearly, ask him to repeat a simple sentence word,
  2.  Hands: can he raise both hands evenly to the same height, if one hand “falls” it is a reason for alarm,
  3.  Atrophy – check the symmetry of the face, smile and tongue, and gait, if it drifts to one side or there is visible atrophy, i.e. ‘distortion’ of the face – immediately call for help
  4.  Minutes – the sooner you react by calling for help, the greater the possibility that the person will be saved, and the consequences will be less.
